What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine involves understanding the origins, prevention, and treatment of complex, chronic disease and inter-connectedness within the body. It views the body and all of the systems as a whole, with all parts working and communicating with each other.
It is a science-based approach where the provider considers a number of interactions in the patient’s history, physiology, lifestyle, genetics, mind, and environment that can contribute to illness. Data is obtained through the use of patient history, medical records and laboratory testing and other diagnostic procedures.
A comprehensive plan is then prescribed for the individual patient which may include nutrition, , medications, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, stress-management techniques, and emotional support. Please let us know if you would prefer to be seen in your home.
